The reports below represent an ongoing collaborative knowledge building initiative between Loyola service-learning students and members of the Govans community. This research was compiled by students in Professor Allen Brizee’s writing classes and begins to provide a detailed and comprehensive history of Govans.
The “Revolving Door” of Mass Incarceration: What Keeps Baltimore City Safe?
This report seeks to clarify the complex and multifaceted relationships between the community of Govans and the Baltimore criminal justice system. It answers two primary questions: How does incarceration affect crime rates? How does trauma from before and during incarceration impact communities?
